As a Colour Designer 2, you design and develop seasonal strategies within the product collections with recognized colour excellence. You execute the colour creation process in line with Arc’teryx brand standards, design and product principles, and colour merchandising philosophies, while continuously driving efficiencies across the colour development process.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-location.

If you were in the Colour Designer 2 role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Managing and supporting seasonal colour direction for assigned portfolios and ensure seasonal palettes meet Arc’teryx standards
- Creating, proposing and presenting palettes, article assortments, and merchandising concepts
- Researching regional colour trends, competitive landscapes, merchandising concepts and establish external industry networks that provide insight and awareness of global trends
- Collaborating with multiple departments, you use metrics and insights to direct the creative process
- Managing extensive and complex raw material matrix to achieve on time delivery of all coloured materials
- Quantifying the usage of each raw material by calculating turns based on the minimum order quantities (MOQ), yield, placements, and forecasts
- Working closely with Senior Color Designers and the Merchandising team, you finalize cross-merchandising strategies
- Managing the colour lifecycle of finished goods by model while honoring the corporate calendar
- Compiling project scope, activities, and expenditures of projects deemed to be eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, etc.)

Are you our next Colour Designer 2?
- You have an Apparel Design Diploma or equivalent experience, and 4+ years’ experience in a colour and fashion environment
- You have excellent colour acuity, an extensive knowledge of colour theory, and a basic knowledge of materials
- You understand changing colour trends
- You have the ability to merchandise collections
- You have an awareness of Arc’teryx products and their applications
- You have an intermediate to advanced ability in Adobe Illustrator
- You understand the retail buying and line development process
- You have a knowledge of manufacturing timelines and MOQs
- You have the ability to adhere to critical path and established deadlines
- You have effective time management and organizational skills
- You have a strong attention to detail
- You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
- You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement

$71,000 - $89,000 a year
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$71,000 - CAD$89,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates with demonstrated expertise that is above job requirements or who bring exceptional directly transferable experience.
