Job Summary:
The Director – Creative Communications (Design & Art) will serve as the overall Graphics & Design Head for the Telugu GEC, responsible for defining and driving the channel’s visual language, design strategy, and creative excellence across on-air, off-air, digital, and brand communication. This role will lead the end-to-end design and art function, ensuring strong storytelling, brand consistency, and high-impact viewer engagement aligned with business and programming goals.
About the team:
The Creative Communications team is responsible for conceptualizing and executing the channel’s overall communication strategy. The team works closely with Marketing, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Programming, and Digital teams to deliver compelling show promos, trailers, packaging, and brand campaigns. The team comprises promo producers, writers, graphic designers, motion artists, and editors, serving millions of viewers across platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and define the overall design and visual identity of the Star Maa network across fiction, non-fiction, movies, events, and special programming.
- Set the creative direction and design philosophy for the channel, ensuring a consistent overall look and feel.
- Lead the creation of logos, show identities, promotional packaging, and brand assets for all major launches.
- Oversee program titles, title animations, motion graphics and on-air packaging for new shows and channel initiatives.
- Drive high-impact new movie promos, teasers, and special packages, including festival and events packages.
- Ensure all design and motion outputs meet broadcast quality standards and brand guidelines.
- Guide digital design adapatations, including motion posters, GIFs, key visuals, and multi-format assets.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the graphics design teams, building strong creative leadership and capability.
- Collaborate closely with Programming, Marketing, On-Air, and Digital teams to translate briefs into compelling visual stories.
- Review and approve all key creative outputs, ensuring quality, consistency, and brand alignment.
Skills & Attributes for success:
- Deep expertise in broadcast design, motion graphics, promotional packaging, and visual branding within a GEC environment.
- Strong creative vision, storytelling sensibility, and audience-first mindset.
- Hands-on understanding of After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro (knowledge of 3D tools like Cinema 4D / Blender is a strong plus).
- Proven leadership experience managing large creative teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and execution capabilities.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent.
- 14+ years of experience in Broadcast / GEC / Media / OTT / top creative agencies, with 6–8+ years in senior leadership roles.
- Strong track record of leading large-scale show launches, channel rebrands, festival packaging, and high-impact campaigns.
- Experience with regional (Telugu) GEC audiences is strongly preferred.
