Job Description

The Multimedia Director serves as lead strategist and implementor of the organization’s digital media infrastructure. Reporting to the Managing Director of Communications and Community Partnerships, the Multimedia Director will operate as the  lead storyteller for our statewide network of 45+ public schools across the state. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a creative powerhouse who can capture the heart of our campuses through professional video and design while maintaining systems-level ownership of how content is stored, shared, and scaled.

As a "one-person studio," the Multimedia Director is  responsible for the strategic implementation of KIPP Texas’ multimedia enterprise. This encompasses both engineering a scalable media program and leading tactical production that ensures high-quality content that sparks joy and chases excellence across each region. The Director of Multimedia is responsible for vision, integration, and lifecycle management of all visual storytelling and the systems that house them.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Strategic Video Production & Storytelling

  • Lead all phases of video production, including concept development, storyboarding, lighting, filming, and post-production
  • Produce high-quality content that highlights our students, staff, partners, and donors
  • Serve as the lead videographer for special events (graduations, donor galas, and celebrations), ensuring the energy and brand of KIPP Texas is captured with precision.
  • Own and Maintain the  professional-grade portfolio of camera, audio,  lighting equipment, and future hardware investments. 

 Brand Systems & Scalable Design

  • Act as the guardian of the KIPP Texas visual brand, ensuring strict adherence to typography, color palettes, and log  guidelines across all digital and print mediums.  
  • Design and manage the enterprise-level Canva template strategy and empower teams with a self-service design framework that allows for quick content creation without compromising brand integrity.  
  • Direct the  KIPP Texas’ capture strategy, travelling frequently to San Antonio, Austin, DFW, and Houston, ensuring our digital presence authentically reflects the spirit of our students, staff, and community. 
  • Create digital and print assets for internal and external communications, and social media

Platform Ownership & Governance

  • Own the KIPP Texas YouTube channel. Manage the upload schedule, and design thumbnails to increase visibility
  • Partner with different departments/teams to provide high-energy, short-form video (Reels/Shorts) that highlights school culture and community partnerships
  • Own and maintain Air, our district’s cloud-based Digital Asset Management (DAM) and visual collaboration platform by adding approved photos, videos, graphic templates, and tools to the platform

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication (or 6+years of equivalent professional experience in video production and graphic design)
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva
  • Must have a deep understanding of DSLR/Mirrorless cinema cameras and field audio recording

COMPETENCY AND SKILLS:

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects autonomously without administrative support or direct reports.
  • Expert at navigating high-stakes environments to provide quick turnarounds on critical projects while maintaining 100% on-time completion.
  • Skilled at executing strategic tasks under tight deadlines, utilizing proactive solutions to maintain momentum in fast-paced settings.

  • Reliable transportation is needed for travel between campuses
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.

Frequent Travel: Regular and consistent travel to various school sites, regional offices, or external locations for work related activities for professional learning, meetings and other work related activities.
