Job Description

The Mission

Believe is at a turning point. We are moving away from decade-old legacy flows to build a seamless, modern “Backstage” platform for artists, labels, and our own teams (the Believers).

As our Head of Product Design, you’ll lead a transverse team of 8 designers embedded across 20+ squads. You won't just manage; you will architect a design transformation. Your playground spans the entire artist lifecycle: from Access (getting music online, managing royalties, and protecting rights) to Success (scaling artist promotion, data, and AI-led innovation).

You’ll sit at the high-stakes intersection of Design, Product, and Tech, acting as the catalyst for a culture where design is a business strategy, not a final coat of paint.
 

Key Responsibilities

1. Drive the Vision & Culture

  • Chart the Future: Build a design North Star that actually sticks, aligning our user experience with Believe's mission to empower independent creators.

  • Internal Evangelist: Grab the mic. You’ll be the face of design at internal all-hands and leadership forums, turning UX impact into a story everyone at Believe understands and wants to be part of.

  • Outcomes over Features: Push the organization to stop counting "shipped features" and start measuring real-world impact for our users.

  • The Triad: Deepen the collaboration between Design, Product, and Tech to ensure user-centricity is baked into our development DNA from day one.

2. Evolving the Design System

  • Scale the Ecosystem: Our Design System is in its "adolescence." You’ll lead its transition into a mature, high-performance engine that bridges the gap between design intent and clean code.

  • Smart Governance: Stop the chaos. Define how 20+ squads contribute to and adopt the system without slowing down.

3. Lead & Build the Team

  • Mentor & Coach: Lead a team of 8. Your job is to clear the path for them, ensuring they have the psychological safety to fail and the mentorship to grow.

  • Design Ops: Define the "Way of Working." In a world of 20+ squads, you’ll ensure our designers stay connected, consistent, and efficient.

4. Legacy Redesign & AI Innovation

  • The Big Overhaul: We have critical user journeys that haven't been touched in 9 years. You will oversee the radical simplification of complex tasks like royalty tracking and copyright management.

  • AI as a Tool & Product: Accelerate how AI changes our craft—from how we research and frame problems to shipping smart, automated solutions for artists.

  • High-Bar Craft: Ensure the problems we solve, the UX/UI we craft and the tools we build feel as sharp as the artists we serve.

 

Qualifications

  • Seasoned Leader: 8+ years in Product Design, with a solid track record of managing teams in fast-moving environments.
  • Change Agent: You’ve successfully navigated "culture shifts" before. You know how to balance design ideals with the pragmatic realities of building at scale.

  • Systems Thinker: You see the big picture. You know how to move from component libraries to a true product foundation.

  • Business Savvy: You speak the language of stakeholders. You can justify a design pivot with data while respecting the cost of engineering.

  • Bilingual: Fluent in French and English.
