The Infotainment & AI department is responsible for innovating and evolving the in-vehicle infotainment system for US customers, with the ambition to deliver a best-in-class, market-leading infotainment experience. By combining software platforms, AI capabilities, and customer-centric design, the department drives differentiation and customer satisfaction across the Mercedes-Benz portfolio.
The Principal UI/UX Market Function Owner (MFO) owns the US market UX strategy for infotainment experiences. This role ensures that global UI/UX concepts, standards, and features deliver market-leading usability and customer satisfaction for US customers. Acting as a senior counterpart to global design leadership, this role influences global UX direction through market insights, validation, and strategic recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Own the US market UI/UX strategy for infotainment experiences
- Define UX priorities and success criteria for the US market
- Act as the final UX authority for market-specific decisions and escalations
- Influence global UX standards and roadmaps using market insights and data
- Drive alignment between Product, Engineering, Data, and global UX leadership
- Identify systemic UX gaps and proactively propose experience improvements
- Mentor senior and staff UX contributors and raise UX maturity across the org
- Communicate UX recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders
- Role is embedded in the Market & Field Organization (MFO)
- Requires close collaboration with US and global stakeholders
- Job responsibilities may evolve based on business needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and UX best practices
- Experience translating customer and market insights into UX requirements
- Ability to review and assess UX concepts, prototypes, and implementations
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working in cross-functional and international teams
- Experience in mentoring teams in complex technical environments across cloud and embedded software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate in ambiguous environments
- Comfortable representing the market perspective in global discussions
- Proven ability to influence global UX direction in large organizations
- Experience operating as a senior UX authority across multiple stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automotive infotainment or embedded user interfaces
- Familiarity with design systems and UX governance models
- Experience working in a Market & Field Organization (MFO)
- Exposure to usability testing, customer research, or data-informed UX decisions
- Experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering teams
