Role overview

As a Senior Concept Designer you are a key creative force within the Brand Agency, part of the Brand & Concepts team. You collaborate closely with Art Directors, Concept Designers and Concept Writers. 

This role sits at the heart of brand evolution at campaign level. You shape concepts that translate brand strategy, defined brand pillars and cultural relevance into distinctive Rituals visual worlds. 

You strengthen the concept layer of the brand by defining frameworks, building visual systems and ensuring long-term consistency across campaigns and activations. Rather than focusing primarily on execution, you create the structured foundations that guide and elevate execution across touchpoints. 

You combine strong conceptual thinking with advanced hands-on design skills, translating frameworks into tangible visual explorations, layouts and creative outputs when needed. 

Operating at campaign and visual system level, you build clarity, cohesion and scalability within the established brand direction. 

Your focus is to elevate creative quality through strong concept thinking, structured frameworks and high-level design craftsmanship, helping the Brand Agency move toward a more professional, concept-driven way of working.

Key responsibilities:

Campaign Concept Development 

  • Develop and shape campaign concepts within defined brand pillars
  • Translate brand strategy and cultural insights into distinctive visual worlds
  • Build strong concept frameworks that guide execution across Print, Digital and Retail
  • Create mood boards, concept decks and storytelling structures
  • Translate concept frameworks into concrete visual explorations and design proposals
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of the brand’s visual language

Visual System & Brand Playbooks 

  • Translate brand pillars into tangible creative systems and visual guidelines • Define structured visual rules, including: 
    • Color worlds 
    • Contrast and composition principles 
    • Texture and material direction 
    • Storytelling routines and visual consistency 
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of brand playbooks
  • Safeguard conceptual and visual coherence across all touchpoints
  • Strengthen long-term brand consistency through clear frameworks

Bridge Between Strategy, Concept & Execution 

  • Connect brand strategy to campaign concepts and visual language
  • Work closely with Art Directors to ensure concept integrity throughout execution
  • Align idea, production and rollout through clear creative direction
  • Elevate creative quality structurally rather than ad hoc
  • Strengthen collaboration by creating clarity and shared creative foundations

Production Support (When Required) 

  • Support Art Directors during production when needed
  • Safeguard visual alignment with approved concept frameworks
  • Ensure output reflects defined visual systems and creative intent

Collaboration & Ownership

  • Operate as a senior creative partner within the Brand & Concepts team
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Content, Design Studio and Own Brand teams

 

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience 

  • Strong experience in concept development and brand design
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into structured visual frameworks
  • Advanced hands-on design skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating layout, typography, color and composition
  • Confident creating both high-level concept decks and refined design deliverables
  • Experience building playbooks or brand systems
  • Strong understanding of campaign thinking and visual storytelling
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Experience with Figma is a plus
  • Experience working with AI creative tooling (e.g. Midjourney or similar) is a strong plus
  • Experience in a brand or creative agency environment is a strong plus

Location and working conditions

This role is based at our Central Head Office (Herengracht) in Amsterdam. While flexible working is possible, we value strong on-site collaboration to align quickly and work effectively across teams. Because we believe in the power of connection with ourselves, each other and the world around us, we work 80 percent from the office and 20 percent from home. Together, we bring our brand philosophy to life by transforming everyday routines into meaningful moments.
