Job Description

Role Summary: 

Oxygen, USA Network and SYFY are seeking a Sr. Digital Video Producer/Editor to lead daily news coverage across the three brands and manage a team of producer/editors, while also supporting E! Entertainment during tentpole events.

The role requires a strong leader with expert news judgment, a command of fast-paced digital storytelling and the ability to produce and edit videos under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate is creative, adaptable and a resourceful multi-platform journalist, who understands the difference between traditional media and digital-first content. The candidate will be responsible for writing scripts, reporting and sourcing information, collecting visual assets, and producing and editing digital video. You will pivot between true crime, entertainment and sports while also managing and assigning to a team.

On camera talent is not required for this role but strong producing and reporting instincts and the ability to conduct interviews is a plus.

Responsibilities: 

  • Curate, prioritize and assign daily video lineup based on trending news and programming priorities
    • Select content strategically to meet and exceed video view and referral traffic goals
    • Use analytics to guide real-time decision making and identify growth opportunities
  • Produce, edit and publish 3-4 videos per day across Oxygen, SYFY and USA
    • Own the process from end-to-end: scripting, collecting assets, VO, editing and publishing
    • Create SEO-optimized headlines and descriptions that factually represent content and drive views across digital platforms
    • Edit in Adobe Premiere, optimizing sound and lighting as well as incorporating transitions and graphics
  • Continually identify video strategies to grow audience across different platforms and be able to execute them successfully
  • Manage a team of producer-editors, ensuring each team member is consistently meeting goals
    • Provide assignments, creative direction and feedback
    • Empower direct reports to take ownership of their work
  • Balance news priorities and deadlines with long-term planning, ensuring coverage of both daily news and show priorities
  • Partner closely with editorial, social, marketing and PR to ensure cross-team alignment and coordination across platforms
  • Work closely with social team to optimize video distribution, monetization and referral traffic
  • For award shows and tentpole events, prioritize E! Entertainment’s digital video needs
    • Produce and edit content from Live from E! red carpets and other brand priority shows
    • Must be available for late nights and weekends as needed for events such as award shows, WWE events and more

Qualifications

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS from a four-year accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience producing news video content end-to-end for digital platforms, preferably in entertainment or breaking news
  • Expert skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects)
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills, ability to self-edit
  • Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines and quickly pivot to breaking news
  • Social media-savvy with the ability to publish across platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram TikTok, YouTube and YouTube Community)
  • Creative storyteller who understands digital-first video formats and what drives engagement
  • Strong team player who can also function as an independent producer

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong understanding of digital metrics: page views, video views, watch time, referral traffic and retention
  • Deep knowledge of digital trends and emerging trends
  • Strong camera skills and ability to shoot clean, usable footage
  • Confident interviewer with ability to ask smart, timely questions that translate into a compelling digital video

Additional requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the Los Angeles, CA office a minimum of three days per week.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed during busy seasons and tentpole events

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 (bonus eligible)
