Job Description
The Usability & Design department at Brainlab shapes the entire user experience of our products —

engineering, industrial design, user interface design, frontend engineering, as well as technical writing
and localization.
We’re looking for a (Senior) User Experience Designer who is passionate about creating intuitive, aesthetically refined solutions for complex medical software and healthcare applications. In this role, you will collaborate across teams to design products that have a real impact on patient care.
As a (Senior) User Experience Designer your responsibilities will be…
- … working across the full UX spectrum — from early concept development, information architecture, and interaction design to detailed user interface design. While this role emphasizes UX and conceptual work, strong UI design skills are essential.
- … discussing, defining, communicating, and creating design solutions, including wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and style specifications.
- … collaborating closely with Usability and GUI Engineers and contributing to several R&D projects in parallel, while maintaining alignment with the User Experience Design team.
Qualifications
- Education in user experience design, interaction design, human computer interaction, human factors engineering, interface design, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience.
- A passion for both conceptual thinking and visual design. Affinity for complex, technical products. Experience in MedTech or other highly regulated industries is a plus.
- Knowledge about designing for responsive software applications or products for a wide range of environments — from touch interfaces to mouse-based devices of various sizes and form factors.
- Experience in building and maintaining UI design systems; technical knowledge of frontend development and collaborating with developers is a plus.
- Excellent skills in Figma; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and collaborative tools like Miro or FigJam.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and align with a variety of stakeholders.
- A high degree of self-sufficiency and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prior professional experience is beneficial but not required.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing your UX process, methods, and visual design skills.
- Fluent proficiency in English; candidates should also feel comfortable communicating in conversational German (approx. B1 level).
